Brands is a very good book about one of the great icons of American history. It is well-written, informative and opinionated. It puts Jackson's life in the wider context of the history of the United States and charts the unlikely rise of this most extraordinary character from an orphan without any formal education, to a Cited by: The favorite AJ bio.
